Web development is constantly evolving, major shifts this year in web development include accessibility in real time on all devices. Accelerated mobile pages, or AMP, has been steadily increasing in popularity. AMP is an open source project with the goal of improving the performance of web content and advertisement. AMP provides a much better user experience on mobile devices due to its much faster web page load times which leads to increased exposure, visibility in search results, and ultimately more revenue for site owners.
Another noticeable change is the death of Flash; once Google began using HTML5 the death of Flash was sealed. HTML5 is faster and is more user-friendly. By the end of 2020, Adobe will finally pull the plug on Flash and stop updating as well as distributing Flash. Although Flash has been steadily declining for the last several years this marks a big final change in web development.
